Bio
Mariana Prado (b.2000, McAllen, Texas) grew up and lived out her childhood in a border town in Northern Mexico, Reynosa, Tamaulipas, until she and her family migrated to another border town in deep South Texas, Pharr, where she now resides. Ever since, Mariana has navigated life through her Mexican eyes in a playful but crude way, with crippling Catholic guilt that allows her to find beauty in even the worst places, even death. Mariana received her BFA from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2021. Mariana has presented works at South Texas College Galleries, Chautauqua School of Visual Arts, San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum, and Fowler Kellogg Art Center. Recent exhibitions include works at Flower Shop Art Studio, Presa House Gallery, and Brownsville Museum of Fine Art. Her studio practice is multidisciplinary, working in various mediums that allow her to communicate fears, worries, death, permanence, self-discovery, and transformation.
