Bio
Mariana Prado (b. 2000, Mcallen, Texas) grew up and lived out her childhood in Reynosa, Tamaulipas (a boarder town in Northern Mexico); at the age of 12 her family migrated to Pharr (another border town in deep South Texas) where she now resides. It was a difficult change, but one that had to be done. Due to factors such as the sexenio of Felipe Calderon. Ever since Mariana has naviagted life through her Mexican eyes in a playful but crude way; with crippling Catholic guilt that allows her to find beauty in even the worst places. For example death. This interpretacion of life has inevitably manifested itself in her work. She specializes in studio practices and plastic arts! Mariana’s studio practice is multidisciplinary; working in various mediums that allow her to communicate through material. Mariana received her Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2021. Her work explores ideas of death, life, permanence, self discovery, expression, fears and chaos. Creating pieces that challenge her fears allow her to communicate within herself. The nostalgia, the discovery (within her own practice and herself), the trepidation of the undiscovered. In conjunction these thoughts drive Prado to express through creation. Indulging in the essential and primal assepct of life that is art making.
